so i deleted it (good thing it was till 'young')
and i'll start over again...
i'm still in hawaii! it's SO PRETTY! and the temp never goes beyond 29 degrees during the day and never really dips much lower than 24 degrees at night. and it's so breezy because it has mountains all over the island (air pressure differences, yah?) and just looking right out the window, i see low-lying rain clouds engulfing the mountaintop. what a great, agreeable place to retire.
plus, have you ever felt as if your stomach was so full that you had to hunch over - cannot stand up straight? yah, that's me EVER SINCE i got to hawaii. no hunger because it's food, Food, FOod, FOOd, FOOD! yummy korean-jap-chinese-hawaiian food :D
on top of that i've been trying to read through c.s lewis' book called 'Miracles'. it's seriously one of the greatest books i've ever read. he provides so many practical insights and new point of views of God that are so logical and clothed in simplicity - yet he presents ideas with such profundity that it leaves you breathless and his analogies are simply in a simple word, beautiful.
here's a quote on Nature (i wouldn't say that he 'personified' her though. rather Nature is a character. as he said 'she is herself') -
How could you ever have thought that it was merely a stage-set for the moral drama of men and women? She is herself. Offer her neither worship nor contempt. Meet her and know her. If we are immortal, and if she is doomed (as the scientists tell us) to run down and die, we shall miss this half-shy and half-flamboyant creature, this ogress, this hoyden, this incorrigible fairy, this dumb witch. But the theologians tell us that she, like ourselves, is to be redeemed, not her essence. She will be cured in character: not tamed (Heaven forbid) nor sterilised. We shall still be able to recognise our old enemy, friend, playfellow and foster-mother, so perfected as to be not less, but more, herself. And that will be a merry meeting.
ain't it gorgeous?
i love the ideas he presents.
i think back on this year and on my life and i see how the Lord has brought me through it. and i've come to see how blessed i am. in addition, i feel as if God is leading me to greater things, to soar towards higher heights and delve into greater depths. more on that in my next post -- when the internet is reliable. hoho.
anyway, pics!

first pic is from a hike that we took, and the view of the hawaiian coast. i'm on the island oahu, in honolulu, hawaii. it was a pretty intense hike, but the view was completely worth it. moreover, this is a pretty private 'mountain' because it's in a residential area, but my friend's (susannah) friend (jamie) lives on the mountain, so let's say it was a hard to come by treat!
second pic is susannah, me and jamie. we got tan, yah?
