i rarely update these days -- part of me is really busy, the other part is just plain lazy :P i like reading blogs a lot more than the act of updating them. haha...
nevertheless, i just got back from a spring break trip to Haiti -- reputed for being known as the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. i don't like that it is labeled as such, though. i think the locals don't appreciate it either.
we overlook the richness in culture, art, solid family values and strength that has prevailed in a country that has been broken repeatedly by colonization, war and unrest. haiti was beautiful. i went there with the vassar haiti project and visited the school the project built with profits from our annual art auction and sale.
other developments in my life = i'd rather talk about it, not type. would take FOREVER.
med school is no more :P
i'm now a biochemistry major, not a biology major
God is doing good things at Vassar. He is... incredible
i'm going to be at school doing research this summer
i'm going home in july/aug! cannotwaitcannotwaitcannotwait
May we break boundaries, tear down walls, and build on the foundation of goodness inside each of us. May we look past differences, gain understanding, and embrace acceptance. May we reach out to each other, rather than resist. May we be better stewards of the earth, protecting, nurturing and replenishing the beauties of nature.
May we practice gratitude for all we have, rather than complain about our needs. May we seek cures for the sick, help for the hungry, and love for the lonely. May we share our talents, give our time, and teach our children. May we hold hope for the future very tenderly in our hearts and do all we can to build for bright tomorrows. And may we love with our whole hearts, for that's the only way to love.
