another beautiful hike today...

and also the scariest one in my life.
i've moved from susannah's pretty house to marisa's pretty house and we went hiking on a stunning trail called wihiwihiloa ridge. i'm sure you guys know what a ridge is right? imagine the long blade of a knife facing up towards you. that's a ridge. there were points in the hike where the walking area was about a foot wide, and you're like several thousand feet above ground level and all you see are mountains and valleys around you. you can't look down beside you, you can only look ahead or down at your feet to watch your step. but it was stunning. and it was SO steep! we couldn't make it to the top because it was like a bald, slippery mud trail at a 75º vertical incline, plus, at the point we stopped, there were no more cut out steps but a ROPE to scale up the muddy trail.

and i was in teva sandals, carrying a bag load of erm... supplies for the hike.
we were not going to brave a rope, a slippery mud trail.
for me, being an amateur hiker with a big butt, NO. so we sat and then headed down. the pics you see here are from the hike :D
